you will have a separate channel from the developers where you can go and download the apps with the help of internet package rs 98. I dont think you should have a sim to browse internet. you can do from the default internet access from the tab itself. there is a in built browser which will let you browse through web. but u have to pay for it.

yes it supports the market and its response is pretty good.. you can browse easily without any problems.
I doubt it.. for having android market on android 2.3, it should deal with anddroid compatibilit certificate approved by google namely CCD, so far this device doesnt seem to have a camera in it, it is a must to have a camera atleast rear for having android market in the dfevice,..but hope for the best as i too ordered one ubislate7+,,

you cannot use any dongles in aakash.. but there is a chance in ubislate to use this dongles. let me find out more info on it. unless you have a android app on your dongle, it wont work.

Good morning to you.After seeing these two beautiful products,I decided in no time and booked the ubislate7 version because just for Rs.500/- more you are getting much more which is unbelievable.I also got my booking number immediately and the same in my email.But the page said-you will get your aakash tablet soon(although the uppermost blue line in the webpage said ubislate 7 pre booking and i also filled the pre-book option).I will take your advice and confirm my ubislate when they contact me by phone or email to confirm my order.My questions are-
1) Can I use my normal AIRCEL sim in it which I am using in my personal phone?
2) What is this Rs.98/month charge?Is it compulsory or optional for ubislate 7 as I dont use internet on my now phone(no 3G,GPRS etc.)and may or may not be interested in using internet in future.Also is the rate same for any internet service provider(mobile company) and what if the usage exceedes 2GB(I dont think it would because the limit is much more for a tablet)
3) I would be changing my residence in late january(deadline 30th if there is no extension as I am living in the govt. quarter alloted to my father who has retired) or in early february?So, can I change my delivery address if possible and what happens if the courier or speedpost reaches my old adress( I guess I have to contact my local postman who knows me very well and ask him to inform me in case the order arrives.In case of courier,the company have to call me to redeliver the package as I dont know which company it will be.I bet that would a courier service or VPP otherwise how COD will happen?

1) yes, you can use it,
2) its compulsory if u want to use the web, else no need if you find a wifi some where near a hot spot.
3) it will be delived with a special courier services, so when they call u to confirm your order, you can cancel it and re order again when open. or take the order by going to your old place when about to deliver. the choice is yours.
4) there will be no damage. since the packing will be tight and safe. but do check your tab while delivery time.

there is always a option of using a sim card in the ubislate. but we will get back to you that what you have asked is how far true. but as per the previous info, you can use it with any sim you want in ubislate. the thing which you have said of pre actived is applied to aakash.

Resistive is cheaper than capacitaive touch screen .You can use stylus in resistive but you have to use more pressure when using ur fingers. In capacitive you cannot use stylus.

1) You cannot cancel the order from online… so you have to wait for the call from the team before cancelling it..
2) If you have ordered and still didnt get the mail, you have to wait for the mail, they will get back to you very soon., since they got a lot of orders, they will check ur order slowly.
3) you an pay the amount to the person who will bring it and you cannot pay it online. so wait for your tab to get to your home and pay directly..
4) You can find the replacement offer with the tab, so when ever you are having any issues, u can replace it with a new one.
5) you can surf the web in both the tabs by paying rs:98.
6) There are no discounts in the above tabs..

Thanks for answering my Mega questions with micro(even nano)explanatroy answers.I am having BSNL boradband connection with wi-fi modem from D-link at home and wi-fi hot spots in my office.I think I can use them for my need and if needed,I will have the net connection from my mobile service provider(98/month/2GB) is OK.But do I have to call the mobile company to tell them about this plan or they were already aware of it and just a call from me will do the thing with no explanation.Second,about the delivery,I think it would be better if I ask them to tell me the address of the delivery office in our locality and collect it from there by paying the money(if possible,otherwise I will go according to your plan).Third,you mentioned that I should check the tablet when receiving even if the chances are they would be in good condition is very high.I think you mean that after receiving the package,I should check immediately,right there.Fourth,you also said in one of the posts that the optional accessories like car-charger and keybord would cost Rs.300-500.So,can I order them also when they will call me to confirm the order and pay the amount in addition with the tablet price or can I order it later using their website or toll free number?Thanks again for replying to my post as I am too excited to have the feeling when I would posses this wonderful product which I can proudly show to my friends.Take care and God bless.

one of my friend got the tab delivered it ystrday! Its very poor in performance. takes 2-3 minutes to respond when a pendrive is loaded. no internal speaker. touch is less sensitive. you have to do a hard press each time. The device is getting extremely heated in 30 mins. wifi is there. video is getting stuck while being played! For those who used samsung galaxy or iphone, akash will be a not-so-good gadget.
Lets hope a better performance from ubislate 7.

Again received mail from nidhi @ nimbuzz.com on 30-12-11 stating that “Shipment is delayed by 10 to 12 days due to stock related issue.We will do our best to keep you updated. The biggest joke of 2011 from Ministry of Science and Technology is,….. this garbage. India is nothing but a big “DUMP YARD” for developed country, all they finding a place where they dump there e-garbage, and Indian politicians are happy to serve them for there personal interest….u all know better how there personal interest hidden behind every “development” (as they say). Mr. Sibble got 1.5 billion from datawind, after that who say what the use of this shit, so all they busy in advertisement of this SHIT. They are not very keen in Indian development, in every steps they only thing know which is commission, money and how they get personally benefited.
Even a 5th stranded school boy have nothing find in this useable except listening music, watching movie or porn. So where is the WiFi in government school, where is the study materiel in there own website…..not a single website of government performing..and you surprise to know about not a single junk website made under 5 lack and above.
So please don’t expect from government they are made to suck the hard working Indians blood only. If you need something good for your own, go in market, there is lot of cheap chines Tablet available from 5-to 6 k with better specification and useability.

Guys, Aakash will be available in stores from April 2012. The bookings will be sent as soon as possible for the December 2011 users 🙂 Since there is a lot of demand for the tabs, its getting a bit late now. Please wait for few more days and get your own aakash tablet.

Vadodara, Friday : The Union HRD ministry will be launching the Aakash 2 tablets in the month of April and May 2012. said by the Union minister of state, HRD, Dr D Purandeswari.
Aakash 2 tablets which are more improved tablets with a faster processor speed and a capacitive touch screen, will be launched by this April-May 2012. Dr D Purandeswari also said that the tablets will be available to college and university students at the same price of Aakash tablets and will make the tablets available for school students after seeing the success at higher education level. She said, by the release of Aakash 2, there will be no battery problems as like Aakash 1 and will it will be more consistent and better than the previous version.
So, we all have to wait for aakash tablets till the month of April – may 2012.

Thank you for following the creation and marketing of tablets in India. I am Canadian. I contacted Datawind in Montreal in order to book and review their cheap tablet but rec’d no reply. I will continue to read your forum and decide if i want to buy an Indian-made tablet when I am next in India, and which brand/model. As far as I can tell there is no ‘Indian citizens only’ restriction. I buy my personal use pharmaceuticals in India at a fraction of the cost of drugs in Canada. I see no compelling reason to buy my electronics only in Bangkok or Seoul. It will be interesting to see how one gets service outside of India, whether there is an international warranty, etc.

You can buy Ubislate right now at the Data wind official website. If you go for the GPRS version you can use SIM for calling as well. For WiFi you will require a wireless router.
