hi satish,
Review was nice n gud work .
Point to note : cozz of natural calamities in japan the hard disk prices have increased so high.
considering WD My Passport Essential SE 1 TB hard disk used to be 4600 k and now it was nearing to 6500k. so i suggest the hard disk buyers to wait at-least a month for prices to come down.
yes, i have written the prices which are currently available in any eCommerce site. You can check out the sites like Flipkart, Amazon and ebay to verify the exact price.
I want to highlight the buyers to wait for few more days for prices to come down.
yea, that’s a good suggestion 🙂
Hello sathish,
i’m looking for a reliable 500gb hdd, my only criteria is that it should not crash on me. i don’t care about data transfer speeds, portability or looks. I just want the safest option for some important data back up. Any suggestions? Seagate, wd, sony? also prices still seem to be on the higher side, any chance they may be coming down any time soon?
Prices have infact come down, you’re in luck! As for your reliability question, Seagate and Western Digital are completely reliable, you can go for any one of them.
thank you for your quick reply..! Much appreciated.
You’re welcome!
“no words ” to comment ,………………………………………………..

Hi Satish,
Am planning to buy a hdd, was surfing the net was options when i came across your site. It seemed quite helpful, hence wwriting to you. How would you rate WD TV LIVE HUB. I want to wirelessely stream data around my house. Can you suggest any other options in terms of good hardware and other ways of doing it. I also plan to buy a ps3. Would it serve the same purpose.
Looking forward to your suggestions.

_Ankit@dohack
Hieee i want to buy a 1 tb HDD plz suggest me which 1 is appropriate, nd plz suggest hdd with best speed and design nd my budget is 6000/-rs
Go for WD Essentials 🙂 The favorite HDD trusted universally.
I want u ask 3 questions..
Which External Hard disk…do u have?
What are the collections do u have?
How are u?
Hello Suresh,
1) I personally use WD My Passport Essential SE and Seagate Expandable.
2) I don’t have a habit of collecting hard disks 🙂
3) I am absolutely awesome 🙂
I just want to ask that in case of external HDDs why do you not mention LACIE Q2 Quadra which I think is the best, most reliable and a workhorse of a HDD. It has amazing speeds, durability, material used fr the body and looks too. So why is LACIE not mentioned at all?
Because the service is not available in many places. Even service matters a lot 🙂
hello i wont to take 1 tb external hard disk and send me your number so i can talk with you on mobile ok and how are u and tell this price is real
Hi Satish,
Your reviews were completely helpful & wise in making a decision in purchasing a Ext-HDD. Based on your reviews I have short-listed on the 500 GB IOmega EGo SuperSpeed (35250) However on a popular website there was also the IOmega EGo SuperSpeed (35253). Could you please help me with the difference in these 2 models. Also does the above product have a good after sales service? And last – the IOmega Protection Suite software needs to be downloaded free from the website. Do I need to constantly keep updating the features else it may hamper the running of the HDD later on! Please advice.
Regards, Ashish.
Hello Ashish,
Thank you for liking the review. Coming to the IOmega Ego Superspeed, the major difference between IOmega 35250 and IOmega 35253 is, Iomega 35250 comes with 2.0 USB speed and 35253 with 3.0 USB speed 🙂 Apart from that small reason, there is nothing great you can expect from the new devices. Also take care about the service center which is located in your city.. You may not get the best support from them, but atleast you can try.

What is the difference between WD My Passport & My Passport Essential SE & which of these will be available in Delhi? Also is the WD Nomad Rugged case available in Delhi?
Both of the drives are available in Delhi. They are basically the same, only differing in appearance and the fact that there isn’t an Essential variant upto 2 TB. WD My Passport is the 2012 series and WD My Passport Essential SE is the 2011 series. The newer one comes with a diagnostic utility as well. As far as actual performance is concerned, both are the same if compared by the same standard ie USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.
Is there any customer care for WD in india?
like if something goes wrong with my WD product..there is nothing for india on their website. i want to buy WD Passport 1TB.
any other suggestions in case of 1TB?
Yes there is, you can check out their official site. You can go for Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex as well.
Hi,
First of all, thanks for this great advice, great help.
I’m needing to buy a hard drive 1TB preferably. The IOMEGA EGO 1TB Stands out to me but all of the American/ British companies are charging a little to much. They basically have doubled the price.
I have found a website that deports directly from India (I believe) rediff.com. They seem to be out of stock.
Do you have any other suggested websites that theoretically cut out the middle man?
Thanks for the great help
Danny
