New Google Nexus 7 Rumored Specs – 2013 Refresh
The Google Nexus 7 is one of the most powerful tablets even now at an absolutely unbeatable pricepoint. While it doesn’t have a rear facing camera and the basic version doesn’t allow 3G network connectivity, it’s still a great buy. Google is apparently looking to refresh the Nexus 7 at the I/O conference this year, which is just around the corner on May 15th. There’s no absolute official confirmation, but a refresh is definitely on the cards, and there’s been rumors of its specs since a couple of months. So here’s the new Google Nexus 7 rumored specs!

When the original Nexus 7 came out, it was cutting edge, and sported an irresistible price tag. As with all Nexus devices, it had great internals, at a very affordable price. There’s no doubt that even the new Nexus 7 will follow this trend. So it’s confirmed that the form factor isn’t going to change, but pretty much everything else will. Here’s what we know:
Screen – Most sources seem to suggest a full HD 1080P resolution LCD panel with Gorilla Glass 2 at least. Some are also pointing to a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200!
SoC – Again there’s more than one rumor, some sources quote a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and some say it’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 (same as the Nexus 4). Considering that both of these system on chips are really powerful, there’s nothing to complain about.
Processor – Either a quad core 1.7 GHz Krait or quad core 1.5 GHz Krait 300, depending on the SoC.
RAM – 2 GB RAM seems to be everyone’s guess.
Storage – 16, 32 and 64 GB variants are expected.
Battery – 4000 mAh with Qi standard wireless charging support.
Camera – Rear facing 5 MP camera and front facing 1.3 MP camera.
OS – Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
The oft rumored next iteration of Android might not be released this month after all, and Google might instead just add a couple of new features and keep Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie for a future reveal. Again, all of these specs are just rumors and it could turn out to be entirely different. Of course, a new lighter, slimmer and minimal bezel design is also a given. Let’s wait and watch, your thoughts?
